VAC Course Application Process
Veterans Affairs Canada will fund career training opportunities for veterans. Follow the steps below to sign up for your VAC account and apply for career training today.

Confirm you meet the requirements:
The first step is to ensure that you meet the Veterans Affairs qualification requirements. You will need one of the following:
- CAF service number or RCMP regimental number
- VAC file number
- VAC Health ID number
- CSDN ID number
Confirm your identity:

You will be asked to respond to five questions online, based on information you have been given in the past
Get a VAC enrollment code by:

- Calling Veteran Affairs
- Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) – You will be temporarily re-directed to the CRA website to either register for or log in to CRA My Account. If you need to register, it could take 5 to 10 business days.

Apply to ReTrain Canada and get accepted into the course.
Fill out application for My VAC
Apply to Veterans Affairs Canada for a VAC Account to secure funding.
Apply for the ETB
The Education and Training Benefit will be used to fund your training.

Apply For a ‘Short Course’
Apply for a ‘short course’ – form 1549 (short course application which needs an acceptance letter).

Apply your funding to the course
Use your ETB proceeds to pay for the ReTrain Canada course.
Complete your course
Take the course and do amazing! Get your certificate for completing the course.
